KIDS BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU

Kids Program

Our Kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation by incorporating multiple styles of training. We emphasize discipline, confidence, and skill development in a supportive and structured environment that encourages growth both on and off the mats.

Traditional BJJ (Gi Training)
Students learn fundamental Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques while wearing the traditional gi (uniform). This form of training focuses on grip work, positional control, sweeps, and submissions—helping students develop patience, precision, and a deeper understanding of leverage and timing.

No-Gi Grappling
No-gi classes remove the traditional uniform and focus on control, movement, and adaptability. This style encourages faster reactions and helps students transition smoothly between gi and no-gi formats, broadening their overall grappling skill set.

Self-Defense
Our self-defense curriculum is tailored specifically for children, equipping them with practical tools to stay safe and confident in real-world situations. Training emphasizes awareness, verbal assertiveness, posture, and non-violent techniques for managing conflict.

  • Do I need prior martial arts or self-defense experience to join?
No experience is needed! Our instructors teach fundamentals and help students progress at their own pace in a welcoming environment.
  • Are there any membership contracts or long-term commitments?
We offer flexible membership options to fit your lifestyle, including month-to-month plans without long-term contracts.
  • What’s the difference between gi and no-gi classes?
Gi classes use the traditional uniform, allowing grips on the clothing for technique. No-gi classes are done in athletic wear without the gi, focusing more on speed and different grips. Both offer excellent training benefits.
  • How often should I train to improve my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu skills and fitness?
Training 2–3 times weekly is ideal for skill progression, fitness gains, and confidence. Even once a week provides great health and self-defense benefits, but we are flexible to fit you and your family’s schedule.
  • Can I try a class before signing up?
Absolutely! We offer a free first class so you can experience our training and community before making any commitments. Plus $25 off at sign up.
  • Are your classes suitable for all genders?
Yes! Our kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes are designed for everyone, regardless of gender. We foster an inclusive, respectful environment where everyone feels welcome and empowered.
  • What do students need to wear?
For their first few classes, we encourage you to wear comfortable athletic clothes. For gi classes, students will eventually want a gi uniform. No-gi classes require athletic gear like rash guards and shorts.
  • How does Brazilian Jiu Jitsu compare to karate or other martial arts?
BJJ focuses on ground techniques, submissions, and real-world self-defense, emphasizing technique over strength. It’s excellent for building confidence, discipline, and practical skills. Karate is typically more striking-based. BJJ is widely regarded as highly effective for self-defense, fitness, and sport.
  • What ages do you accept for kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes near me?
We accept kids ages 5 to 12 for our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes designed specifically for children. Our kids BJJ program teaches age-appropriate techniques that build confidence, discipline, and self-defense skills in a safe environment.
  • Is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu suitable for children with autism or sensory processing issues?
